Carousel Farms

When my children were young, we were very lucky to enjoy Carousel Farms and all its amenities. My children loved the Petting Zoo and my daughter took her horse back riding lessons there. We fished in the ponds and spent many happy hours hanging out around the stables with the horses. At one time they had the largest 4H club in the state of Delaware. Hay Rides, Pumpkin Picks and "Sleeping Under The Stars" were some of my family's favorite things to do. It seemed there was always something fun going on there. It was ideal for taking your children out for a fun afternoon!

Initially there was an ideal mix of public and private ventures there. The New Castle County contracted to T & JD to run the farm in a way that allowed them to work the farm for profit and provide the community with all the fun listed in this page.

But then things changed. Due to political decisions T & JD were forced to vacate the farm. It has now become a sub station for the New Castle County Police with few riding lessons offered by a private vendor. I am happy that the N.C.C. police have a sub station, and surely their work for the community is immeasurable, however this place, the bright spot in our everyday lives has been reduced to a shadow of it's former self.

As your COUNTY COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE I will work toward the goal of bringing back the great activities that Carousel Farms once offered. And I will pledge that this sort of governmental abuse will not continue! We, the citizens of New Castle County, deserve to have better stewardship of this, and all, of our community's assets.

Please take a few minutes to watch how wonderful Carousel Farms used to be. Then look at the photos below of what the current state of affairs is there. I think you will agree a grave injustice has been done to our community due to political posturing and unchecked power.
